Donna Holyman
Donna is in her first season as Assistant Coach at Barry University. She spent the last six years as an assistant under Mark Francis at the University of Kansas. She was primarily responsible for all aspects of recruiting for the KU soccer program. She was instrumental in bringing highly-regarded incoming classes to Kansas. The 2002 class boasted three high school All-Americans and three Player of the Year honorees, while the 2001 class ranked in the top-50 in the nation.
She will assist Barry University head coach Kyllene Carter-Weiss in all aspects of the program including recruiting, planning practices and games, and NCAA compliance.
A top player at both Hartford and Colorado as a collegian from 1994-97, she started all 74 games of her career, scoring 27 goals with 17 assists. She led the Hawks to back-to-back North Atlantic Conference titles and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances before transferring to Colorado as a senior. In her one season in Boulder, she paced the Buffaloes with six goals and four assists in 18 games that season.
In addition, her playing experience included stints with the Under-20 Canadian Women’s National Team and the U-23 Ontario Team which competed in the 1993 World University Games.
Holyman, a native of Burlington, Ontario, received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Colorado in 1998. She earned her master’s in education (sports administration) at KU in 2004. Holyman has her “C” license from the United State Soccer Federation. She worked as a staff coach with Kansas girls ODP in 2005.
John Ramos
Nationally licensed USSF “C”, American Heritage School Varsity, FYSA coaching staff, 10Sport Technical Director, former professional player (US & Germany)
John started his playing career as a club player in S. Florida and went on to have a successful career as a college and professional player. John was a member of the only Florida club team to win the Dallas Cup. John was drafted by the Miami Fusion and went on to play professionally in both the US and Germany. John was recently named Sun Sentinel High School Coach of the Year 2005, leading the American Heritage Patriots to a 29-0-3 record and #4 National Ranking.
Mike Williams
USSF National License, Mike is a former Semi-Pro and Corporate Business House player in Jamaica, and 15 year Coach with the Edison, N.J. Soccer Association and Plantation Athletic League. This will be Mike’s 5th year with the team.
Many of the U16 girls have played together for the past 4 seasons. The team has been the most stable group of players in this age group in South Florida. In their 4+ years together, the team has had very little turnover. The team has added top quality players every year while maintaining a solid foundation. The Eagles will have 5 ODP players returning for the 2005/2006 season.
The team has consistently been one of the top performers in Region A. They have competed in the Statewide Champions League for the past two seasons, with top 5 finishes in both. The team has also advanced to the final 16 in State Cup play in each of the last 3 seasons. The Eagles girls have also had strong performances against some of the top teams in the US (see Team News)
The Eagles girls are strongly encouraged to maintain focus on their academic achievements. Academics is a top priority for the team. The group of players that recently completed the 2004/2005 season had a combined average GPA of 3.9. This is an outstanding achievement for a committed group of athletes. (see player profiles)
